Why massage therapy in oncology?

The latest statistics project a significant increase in the number of people with cancer and a further increase in the number of cases within the next 15 years. As a result, all massage therapists are confronted with this reality.

Analysing this issue demonstrates professional responsibility, making it possible to provide a quality and safe treatment to those people whose health condition presents specific conditions that require special care.

This requires time and specific knowledge. The skills required in oncology specialization are not the same as those acquired in the basic massage therapy training program.

300-hour program - Start: January 2018

For practice in hospitals and palliative care homes.

Program content:

  • Anatomy-physiology-pathology in oncology: 45 hours
  • Customer relations and introspection: 60 hours
  • Information gathering and massage adaptation: 39 hours or Tuina oncology: 15 hours + tuina pre-initiation: 15 hours
  • Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team: 21 hours
  • Ethics applied in oncology and massage therapy: 15 hours
  • Clinical case: follow-up and case studies: 30 hours
